Marakai

On Friday me and Neko went to Gisint for the Marakai, the Marakai is a cooking comp that happens every once in a year.  Me and Neko went last year and came second so we went again this year to see if we could come first.

Our main dish that we made was called spicy chicken ramen and it was so good and our cake was called pineapple upside down cake, it was also very good.When we got to Gisint it was their morning tea time so there was a lot of kids outside and they said hi.  After we set up our food making stuff we got to get the free lunch and ply on the playground.

When we cooked our dish we had to wait outside for ages while they were judging.  When they finally finished judging we got the best main dish award and then when they were about to say who got first place I got butterflies and then they said it was US!

Term 4

This Monday, school started up again in term 4.  I wasn't the most exciting person when it came to school, so coming back after two weeks... not very happy.  Then again I could see all of my friends that I hadn't already seen so it was alright.  

Then we started doing this fun artist study.  You could choose from four different artists, I chose Dianna Adams.  Her art is all about landscape drawing and blending colours.  Our first activity was to go some where on our school field and draw whatever wee could see from our angle.

This term we also started writing our speeches that we're going to preform in week three.  I'm not very confident with saying my speech because i'm not much of a public speaker.  Do you like talking infront of lots of people?

This week we're starting school surfing again witch I am excited about because it's fun as.  I remember in term one I really hurt my leg by scraping it on my fin.

Hamanatua Stream

On Tuesday my class walked up some guy's farm to see the start of Hamanatua Stream.  At the start of the farm, there was a gate and I put my hand on it then ZAP! I got electrocuted, it wasn't that bad though because I had been shocked heaps of times before.  

When we just started walking there was a bunch of Horse and Cow poo mixed with mud.  After the 100 years of trying to get through the mud, we found a stream that we either had to walk through or jump over.  I decided to jump over it and so did most of us.  

After a very long time we got to the first picnic spot I was so hungry, so when we could eat I ate most of my lunch because I thought we were going to turn back after that, but it was only half way.  When she told us that my heart dropped because I was already tired.

When we carried on walking it wasn't even that bad because we ate.  We kept on walking and it was mucky as on the ground from the rain.  When we arrived at the lunch spot I didn't eat anything because I had poo all over my hands.  Then we walked back.

Jean Batten day

 On Tuesday our class (MLH) booked the hall for the day to do Jean Batten inquiry.  If you don't know who Jean Batten is, she is the first woman to fly from New Zealand to England.

In the hall we did lots of code cracking kind of like a treasure hunt.  Our first clue was very hard because I had never done something like that before.  Luckily my group has so they could help me with it.  It was very confusing but I got it overtime.

Our second clue was fun because we had to team up with a group and sit opposite of eachother and make letters with our arms.  After that we made sure we got the right words by calling them out.  Then we called out random word and you had to write down the first letter of the word and it starts to make words.

When we finished all of the clues we made two different type of paper plane the Gull and the Moth paper planes and the teachers set up challenges to see what plane is better.  I got paper to make the moth and the plane we made was the same as my poppas paper planes that he makes, so I made mine real fast compared to the rest of my group.

The first challenge was to see whos plane could go furthest.  I wasn't quite sure who won that but I know somebodys plane went real far.  Our second challenge was to try get your plane through a hula hoop, nobody got through it but someone hit it.  The last challenge was to try hit a bullseye on a sheet from across the room.  When I first tried, I thought it was impossible, but then archie almost hit it and I thought otherwise.  When It was my turn again I threw my plane knowing it wouldn't hit, but then it swerved and hit the middle of the bullseye

Lockdown

Me and Oska were chilling in the spa in Queenstown.  It got cold over time so we went back in to our hotel and our parents told us that there is a lockdown! We were left confused.  We thought COVID had ceased to exist. We were very annoyed because our snowboard trip got cut a whole five days. That's half the total trip!

We got lucky with a flight back to Gisborne. If we hadn't got on that flight, we would've got stuck in Queenstown for a really long time. With nothing to do, and stuck with our siblings all day long!

At least once we got back from Queenstown, it was the weekend, so I didn't have a google meet straight away.  When the weekend ended, I had a google meet at 9.30am on the Monday Morning.  Since I was used to sleeping in, I was a bit late for the meet.  On our google meet, I realised that online class isn't even that bad because it's pretty much half an hour of school and the work ended up being pretty easy.

Our first rugby game

On friday everyone was excited because it was our first rugby game.  We weren't very good because we only had one practice but our coach thinks we were better then last year.  

When we started the game I wanted to score lots of tries because my dad gives me 5 dollars a trie, but he he only gives it to m e if we win but we didn't want to win because it was a grading game and if we won we would go to A grade and we would get destroyed in A grade.

When they kicked off I got the ball and ran down the line and almosted got a trie straight away, but then I got tackled.  When I was trying to put the ball out to our side somebody on their team stopped right on my face and it started bleeding, but it wasn't that bad so it stopped.

It took a really long time but out of nowhere it was half time.  In that whole half I only scored two tries but I kept getting the ball up the line.  At the first little bit  of the second half I was still in the game because I did really good in the first half and our coaches Mike and Marty wanted me on but we didn't want to win.  

Half way through the second half I got taken off for Troy.  After a while, Troy said he didn't want to play any more but when I asked Mike he said ask Troy again just incase he wanted to stay on.  I went and asked him and he said he wants to stay on and I was annoyed because I wanted to go back on.  

After like 5 minutes Troy got bolled over and started crying so I could go back on.  I was real happy because I still had a couple minutes to make some money, so as soon as I got on I ran to the ball and got it out of the ruck and scored a trie.  After the kick off I almost got the ball again, but the weird angles on the ball made it bounce away from me.

Rugby Training

On Thursday at lunch time our school rugby team had rugby training.  Everyone likes rugby training because we get to play a game at the end of training.

In training, first we run around the field in a herd which was tiring because we had to use the reserve which is bigger than our school field.  Its annoying because we have to do it again and again because Stavers always has to be the best and sprints as fast as he can when we are meant to be jogging.

After running, we did passing drills.  In passing drills everyone gets into four lines.  Once your in your lines the first person gets the ball and jogs, the next person from the second line runs and the first guy passes to the second guy, after that the third guy runs up and gets passed to by the second guy and so on.  

Then we did tackle practice.  To do tackle practice u need cones tackle bags and people.  Get how ever many lines you want depending on how many people and tackle bags you have.  Each person needs to be a couple meters away from the line holding a tackle bag.  put three different colour cones in a line.  If you put green pink and yellow cones down, the person in front of the line needs to lie down on the ground behind the middle cone.  If the person say "green" you run around the green cone and tackle.  Do the same for all of the other cone.

At the end of practice we play a game of rugby and everyone knows how a game of rugby goes.

L3 Number

On Thursday I had a maths workshop and we were learning about algorithms, I new how to do algorithms but the workshop was a refresher, which was good because I kind of forgot and ill show you how to use algorithms in the video.

LTP!

Hello I am Stormur and today I am going to write about LTP.  If you don't know what LTP is, it's a thing that we do in our school every Monday and Tuesday and it stands for Learning Through Play.  This week for LTP I went to wood burning in room 2.  In wood burning you can use wood burners, hot glue, seaglass and wood/ driftwood.

The week before I didn't do wood burning, the other people who did go to wood burning went to the beach to get some driftwood, so me and Reef had to go find some wood in our school.  After like 10 minutes we found a piece of wood each, we went back to the class and started wood burning.  On my piece of wood I write Itachi and I was going to draw him on the side of my wood, but I didn't have time so I did it at home.  Reef wrote Sasuke, and did the same as me at my house.  Itachi and Sasuke are both Uchiha members in Naruto, it's an anime.

When I got home from school after wood burning I finished my writing with my dads wood burner because I didn't have enough time to do it at school.  When I was done writing Itachi on my wood, Oska came to my house and me and him went into my dads garage and wrote stuff on our firewood with my dads wood burner.  We did that for like 20 minutes, and then I had to go to town and get some pens for school so Oska had to go home.  

Penguin Game

Last week, we played a game about the little blue penguins life like coming home to a surf shop in you house and busy roads to cross and predators and so on.  So, in our class we had to make our own penguin game.  It is hard making the penguin game because you have to make 10 threats and you have to draw the threats as well, and a backstory.  Me Tre and Hunter are in a group to make a penguin game but sadly Hunter left us.  I have to wright the threats which takes longer than you think and longer than I thought as well.  If you want you can make your own penguins game but you will need a grid.

Walking!

 Hello, today I am going to wright about a walk we did yesterday to douglas and moana RD.  You might be saying, but why did they go for a walk to douglas and moana RD, well I am going to tell right here right now.  

On the walk we were delivering surveys about little blue penguins because they are endangered species and lots of people see penguins at their house in douglas and moana RD.  Now I am excited about this because I have never seen a penguin in my life and  i've never been to a zoo, so I really wanna see a penguin for the first time in my life.  I would be really happy if the first penguin I see in my life would be a little blue penguin.

Easter!

 Wooooooooooo! I said when I woke up because it was Easter Sunday and I was at Staverss farm house and we can motorbike so much on the motorbike track.  

But then when I looked at my feet I saw a chocolate egg and I said YESSSSSS!  Then I got up and ate a little bit of my egg just like everyone else.

Then me Ollie and Stavers and Archie ran outside, put our gear on then...  Vrooooom Vroooom and we drove down to the motorbike track on our motorbikes.  It was skety at first because the first thing you do on the track is a table top which is really fun to air. and just over the table top is a gap jump.

Woooo! we finally made it up the first hill everybody puffed but then everybody groaned as we found out that was only number 1 out of  three hills that we had to walk up.  I  just want to turn back I said but then before I knew it we were at the Beacon of light, it looked so cool.

After about 30 too 45 minutes of walking we walked past a big butiful  mawpak witch looked like this.  Pretty cool right?  

At this point I was busting to go me and as I was thing that we had a toilet break at the public wharepaku it looked so gross if you look down since it was a long drop. Ewwwwww!  everybody said as they came out.  Okay back on the walk now after everyone's done about another 20 minutes of walking there was the hole in the wall, we had to walk past it because just down the track was our morning tea spot and I was relieved when I could eat, I was so hungry.  

On the way back to the cars we got to the hole in the wall and we played in it and it was so fun .  When we were on our way back to the cars again, me and my parent leader person were talking about motorbikes which really made me want my motorbike because it would be so much easier to get down the hill, and up.

10 minutes later we pasted the Beacon of light again and when I saw it again I thought YES! We are almost there at the cars.  For the rest of the way I was just talking to everyone in my group.  Before I knew it I just took the last step I was screaming in pain and excitement then we hopped in the cars and went to school and had a normal rest of the day.  THE END
